St. Francis wondered at fellow Christians and himself. “Why, when we claim to long for heaven and our heavenly reward, do we not get busy saving up those rewards in heaven?! We reject the opportunities God gives us during trials to earn merit, showing by our displeasure our hatred of them. Don’t we realize that it is for these very things that we will be blessed by our Heavenly Father?!” We still see things like the world does rather than as God does. Jesus showed us the way, “Blessed are they who are persecuted, hated and despised by others. Great will be your reward in heaven!” Whether people or circumstances toss us about . . . let us rejoice for the chance to prove our love and faithfulness and let us learn on our God for help for He is stonrg!
